Gusset
The folded base of a stand up pouch is known as the gusset. As the pouch fills, the gusset opens to create a stable base that supports the weight of your product and allows the pouch to stand upright.
Strong Sealing
The layers of the pouch are heat sealed together to create strong, reliable seams. These seals help protect the contents while giving the pouch the strength needed for transport, storage and everyday use.

Seals for Stand Up Pouches
Not every stand up pouch is built the same.
Doyen Seal
The classic stand up pouch base. Doyen seals are widely used across food, drink and household products thanks to their excellent shelf stability and efficient manufacturing process.
A Doyen seal requires tooling for each width that is needed. We can adjust the height, but we cannot change the width. If you need a Doyen with a specific width then we may need to purchase tooling, which is chargeable.
K-Seal
K-seals provide additional flexibility for pouch dimensions and are commonly chosen for larger or heavier products where extra support is beneficial.
Should we not have the Doyen seal size you are looking for, our more cost effective alternative would be to create the size using our K-Seal set ups.

Side Seals
Our standard side seals that go either side of the pouch are 7.5mm wide. These seals have a tolerance of +2mm, so they can be slightly bigger or smaller.

Stand up pouches start from 500 units, plain or fully printed. Digital printing needs no plates, so short runs, seasonal ranges and limited editions cost the same per pouch to set up as a repeat order.
Can I order a stand up pouch in a bespoke size?
We can adjust the height of a Doyen pouch freely, but each width needs its own tooling, which is chargeable. Where we do not already hold the Doyen size you need, building it as a K-Seal is usually the more cost effective route. Get in touch for a custom quote either way.
Are stand up pouches food safe?
Yes. The inner layer that touches your product is a food safe, heat sealable film, chosen to form strong seals that keep moisture, oxygen and contaminants out. Every pouch is manufactured to order in our UK warehouse.
